What:? The Pitman English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) examinations are internationally recognized exams for non-native speakers of English. The exams focus in particular on 'everyday' English and test Reading, Writing and Listening skills. They are held at the following 5 levels:

Basic

Elementary
Intermediate
Higher Intermediate
Advanced

Successful candidates are awarded the 'Pitmans Examination Institute Certificate in English'.

Pitman also offers SESOL examinations (Spoken English for Speakers of Other Languages) which, like the standard ESOL tests, focus on 'authentic' English for everyday situations.

 

Why: The Pitman examinations are recognized by many universities around the English-speaking world as meeting their English language requirement for entry onto degree courses.

The Pitman examinations are recognized and implemented in State education sectors around the world. For example, in
Hungary, the Pitman Qualifications ESOL and SESOL at Higher Intermediate and Advanced levels are recognized as 'State language examinations', meaning that all Hungarian tertiary educational institutions are obliged to accept these qualifications as entry requirements.

The exams serve as an official recognition of a student's level of English.

 

Who: Pitman Qualifications, a leading assessment and awarding body in the UK. which is also part of the UK-based City & Guilds Group.

When: In many centres around the world, the Pitman exams are offered on demand throughout the year.

 

Where: The PTIMAN training is offered at Galilee College through GALILEE ACADEMY Nassau, Bahamas

Candidates are generally required to register 1 month (min) before taking a Pitmans exam.
